What is Lucide?
Lucide is a personal dream journal for iPhone. Capture dreams by voice or text, revisit them in your calendar, and explore them with optional AI reflections and visualizations.
Can I use it without an account?
Yes. You can keep a journal on your device without creating an account. Creating an account is optional and enables cloud backup and synchronization.
What’s included in Premium?
Premium includes server transcription, Freudian and Jungian AI reflections, monthly summaries, and generated dream images. Image generation is subject to usage limits. Current subscription options are shown in the app.
Do I have to record my voice?
No. Type your dream instead, or use voice recording when it feels easier. You can edit the title, text, and date before saving your entry.

Lucide is made for iPhone and requires iOS 18.2 or later. You can download it from the App Store.

Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Lucide Journal handles your journal, recordings, account information, and optional AI features. You can keep a journal on your device without an email account or AI sharing. Reading this policy or using the app does not turn on AI sharing.
1. Responsibility and contact
The operator of Lucide Journal is responsible for the personal data processed to provide this service. For privacy questions, deletion requests, or requests to exercise your rights, contact dcepedagsupport@gmail.com.
2. Information used by the service
Your journal can contain dream titles, text, dates, recordings, generated reflections, and images. Dream reports may include sensitive information about you or other people. Share only the details you want processed.
An optional email account uses Firebase Authentication. It processes your email address, password credentials, and account identifier. The app does not ask for a phone number. A temporary anonymous Firebase identity can also be used to secure Premium requests without an email account.
Apple handles App Store payments. RevenueCat and Superwall process purchase and subscription status, identifiers used to associate purchases with your app session, and paywall interactions. Lucide does not receive your full payment-card details.
Our hosting and security services process technical information such as IP addresses, request times, authentication checks, errors, and usage counters to operate the service and prevent abuse. If you contact support, we receive your message and the information you include.
Google Firebase Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring receive crash reports, installation identifiers, device and app-version information, and performance measurements. Network diagnostics include request URLs without query parameters or payload contents, response codes, transfer sizes, and timing. We use these records to diagnose faults and keep the service reliable. This diagnostic processing is separate from AI sharing.
3. Device storage and optional cloud sync
Lucide stores journal entries and saved images on your device. Signing in with an email account enables cloud backup and synchronization through Google Firebase, including Firestore and Cloud Storage. This includes your dream text, titles, dates, saved reflections, images, and account identifier. Anonymous Premium access does not enable journal cloud sync.
Device and cloud journal entries have no automatic expiry. They remain until you delete them. Signing out stops access to that account but does not delete its cloud journal.
Your device backups and copies you export or save to Photos are separate from Lucide cloud sync. Manage those copies and any iCloud or computer backups through Apple or the app where you saved them.
4. Audio and optional AI processing
AI sharing is off by default. During onboarding, Lucide asks whether to allow the processing described below by the named providers. If permission is not active, Lucide asks again before processing an AI request. Choosing Allow AI features saves that permission on this device. Premium access and the separate Server transcription preference determine which features are available. This permission also allows automatic monthly reflections for the month shown in your journal.
OpenAI receives dream text for Freudian and Jungian reflections. For monthly reflections, it receives the selected month’s dream text, titles, dates, and entry identifiers. OpenAI receives a recorded audio file when you choose server transcription. The purpose is to return the transcript or reflection you requested.
For dream images, fal.ai receives your dream text and selected image style. The current image model is provided by Google, so the image prompt is also processed by Google through fal.ai. Generated images are returned to the app. The app does not send your email address as part of these AI content payloads, but providers receive technical request information.
Apple Speech is a separate transcription option. It may process your audio on your device or on Apple’s servers under Apple’s speech-recognition terms. It needs iOS Speech Recognition permission and is not controlled by the OpenAI and fal.ai sharing choice.
5. Your choices and withdrawing permission
Open AI permissions in Settings and choose Withdraw permission to stop future OpenAI and fal.ai requests, including automatic monthly reflections. The app cancels pending work where possible. Withdrawal does not undo processing already performed or automatically delete reflections and images you saved.
Turn off Server transcription to stop choosing OpenAI for new recordings. To withdraw Apple Speech access, open iOS Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Speech Recognition, and disable Lucide. Microphone access can also be withdrawn in iOS Settings. You can continue writing dreams without these permissions.
Use Export dreams in Settings to create a JSON copy of your journal. Delete an individual dream, or use Delete all dreams when using the app without an account. When signed in, Delete dreams everywhere removes the account’s journal from this device and its active cloud storage.
Delete account in Settings removes the account’s active journal records, stored images, cached monthly reflections, and Firebase sign-in account after any required identity check. Account deletion does not cancel an App Store subscription. Manage or cancel it through Apple. Copies on other devices, exports, Photos, device backups, and provider records may require separate deletion. Contact support if you need help.
6. Processing records and retention
Temporary recording files on the device are removed after transcription, cancellation, or recording cleanup. Abandoned temporary files are cleaned when the app starts. The backend processes uploaded audio in memory rather than saving a permanent audio file.
OpenAI’s published API terms exclude API content from model training unless the API customer opts in. Its transcription endpoint lists no stored application content or abuse-monitoring content. Lucide disables saving reflection responses as retrievable OpenAI response history. OpenAI may still retain reflection content in safety logs for up to 30 days, or longer where required for legal or safety reasons.
Lucide disables fal.ai’s stored input and output payload history and requests that generated image files expire after 24 hours. Anyone with the generated file URL may access it until it expires. These controls do not set a deletion deadline for separate provider security, billing, legal, or Google processing records. fal.ai’s applicable model terms govern training use, including any model-specific exceptions. We do not promise a universal provider deletion or no-training rule.
The backend keeps a short-lived monthly-reflection result cache to avoid duplicate requests. Its default expiry is seven days, with a configurable maximum of 31 days. Request counters expire after one hour. Expiry-based database cleanup may take additional time. Monthly quota records and a minimal deleted-account quota record can remain to prevent repeated use of the same allowance. These quota records have no automatic expiry.
Cloud journal deletion removes active Firebase records and files. Hosting logs, infrastructure backups, subscription records, and provider safety or legally required records have separate retention rules. We cannot promise that deleting a dream immediately removes every historical copy held by these services. Contact support for a request covering remaining records.
Firebase’s published retention periods are 90 days for Crashlytics crash data and related identifiers, 30 days for IP-associated performance events, and 60 days for installation-associated and de-identified performance data before removal from live and backup systems begins.
7. EU legal bases and your rights
Where EU data protection law applies, we use the data needed to provide your requested journal, account, synchronization, and subscription services to perform our contract with you. Optional AI sharing relies on your consent. If the content you choose to submit includes sensitive personal data, that consent also covers its processing for the selected AI features where applicable. Security and abuse prevention rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe. Records required by law are processed to meet those legal obligations. We also rely on our legitimate interest in a reliable service to diagnose faults.
You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a portable copy of your personal data, subject to applicable legal limits. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
Send rights requests to dcepedagsupport@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity. Under the GDPR, we normally respond within one month and explain any permitted extension. You may also complain to the data protection authority where you live, work, or believe an infringement occurred.
8. Providers and international processing
The services described here include Google Firebase, the backend hosting service Replit, OpenAI, fal.ai and its Google image model, RevenueCat, Superwall, Apple, and Cloudflare for the website. Each receives the information needed for its role. Some services act as processors for Lucide, while others handle certain information under their own privacy terms.
Processing may take place outside your country, including in the United States. Applicable provider data-processing terms describe transfer safeguards, which can include the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision where applicable. Available safeguards and processing locations depend on the provider and service configuration. Contact support for information about the arrangements that apply to your data.
9. Website, marketing, and children’s privacy
The Lucide website does not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or tracking pixels, and it does not run a marketing mailing list. Its hosting service may process connection and security information. The app stores preferences on your device and uses the account and subscription services described above.
Lucide does not sell your journal data or use your dreams for advertising. Support messages are used to answer your request, not to subscribe you to marketing.
Lucide has an App Store content rating of 4+. This rating describes the app’s content and does not replace children’s privacy protections. Where the law requires parental consent, a parent or guardian must provide it before a child uses features that collect personal data. If you believe a child has provided personal data without the required consent, contact support so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
10. Updates and further information
We update this policy when the service or its data handling changes. Material changes will be explained in the app or on the website. A policy update does not replace consent for a new optional sharing purpose. External services have their own privacy terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not access the Service. Lucide has an App Store content rating of 4+. If you are not legally able to agree to these Terms or consent to personal-data processing on your own, your parent or guardian must agree on your behalf before you use the Service.
2. Your Responsibilities
- You agree to use the Service in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- You must not misuse the Service by attempting to gain unauthorized access or by transmitting any malicious code.
3. Privacy Policy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which details how we collect, use, and protect your personal data. Please review it before using the Service.
4. Links to Third-Party Websites
Our Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that we do not own or control. We are not responsible for their content, privacy policies, or practices. You acknowledge and agree that we will not be liable for any damage or loss related to the use of, or reliance on, any such external resources.
5. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. In any event, our total liability will not exceed the amount you have paid (if any) for accessing the Service or 100 USD, whichever is greater.
7. “AS IS” Disclaimer
The Service is provided to you “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE,” without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any defects will be corrected. Your use of the Service is at your own risk.
8. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which we operate, without regard to conflict of law principles. Your use of the Service may also be subject to other local, state, or national laws.
9. Dispute Resolution and International Compliance
For European Union (EU) Users
If you are a resident of a European Union member state, you are entitled to the protection of any mandatory provisions of the law in your country of residence.
United States Legal Compliance
By using the Service, you represent and warrant that:
- You are not located in a country subject to a United States government embargo or designated by the U.S. government as a “terrorist supporting” country.
- You are not listed on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
10. Dispute Resolution
If you have any concern or dispute about the Service, you agree to first attempt to resolve it informally by contacting us. If a resolution cannot be reached, any further dispute may be resolved in accordance with applicable laws in our governing jurisdiction.
11. Severability and Waiver
If any provision of these Terms is deemed invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be amended to achieve as closely as possible the intended effect, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force. The failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of future enforcement of that right or provision.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time at our sole discretion. If a revision is material, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice (e.g., via email or within the Service). By continuing to access or use the Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the updated Terms.
